We waited with baited breath for some and rightly predicted the outcome of other wins at this year’s Grammys. But we’re here for what’s a la mode, and that’s what we’re here to give. The 2016 Grammys Style at the red carpet had a few less-than-concealing-at-all gowns (obviously), an outrageously cool tribute to David Bowie by Lady Gaga (again, we didn’t expect less) and leggy Victoria’s Secret Supermodels, to name a few. Oh, and Adele in black, again.
taylor swift AND SELENA GOMEZ
The recently (as it would seem) reigning queen, Taylor Swift showed up at the red carpet with singer and BFF Selena Gomez with their 2016 Grammys style on fleek. Taylor donned a Versace ensemble that more that aped her last year’s high-low skirt, but in bright, daring colours and debuted a new bob, to scale. Her winning speech for Best Album of the year 1989 was pretty great, too! Selena Gomez, in contrast, wore a slinky midnight blue Calvin Klein number that more than matched up to her bestie’s outfit, with cascading locks, to boot.
Gaga’s flamboyantly orange crown of hair and custom Marc Jacobs outfit was a strong nod to Starman David Bowie as far as the 2016 Grammy style watch goes. While the outfit and loud makeup were outlandish and characteristic of Gaga style, we somehow feel like the skyscrapers attached to her feet made it look over-the-top.
Mistook her for Katy Perry? Don’t worry, we did a double take, too.
For a country singer that’s usually decidedly girly, she took the right turn in this Armani gown that hits all the right notes with its cool color palette, texture and feel. Way to channel your Dark Horse!
23 year old singer Demi Lovato not only wowed the audience for her power-packed performance ‘Hello’ and received praise from Katy Perry, but has finally found out what styles work best for her and is werrrrkin’ it! Love the minimal, classy looks by Norrisol Ferrari.
chrissy teigen and john legend
Expectant parents Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s 2016 Grammy style was on point. John looked dapper and was seen with his hands protectively on mama Teigen’s belly in most of the captures (awww) and Chrissy looked elegant in her caped white gown and no prizes for guessing why she was positively glowing!
Aaaaaaaaaand the prize for most predictable 2016 Grammys style goes to…..Ciara!
She wore an Alexandre Vauthier creation that dared to bare….well, almost everything, and that’s her style game every year. Have to admit, she does pull it off, though.
Although Ariana Grande also gets the award for Most Predictable (seriously, when will she get a new hairstyle?), she definitely scored big points with 2016 Grammys style watchers for her choice in attire. This Romona Keveža flowing gown with a fitted bodice was equal parts playful, scorching hot, and mature, striking a perfect balance for the 22 year old star who’s always skirting the lines of teen and adult icon.
We knew Adele would play her 2016 Grammys style card safe, and would wear the most inoffensive and er…..well, boring outfit. She chose to wear a black, long sleeved Givenchy creation that was basically reminiscent of a lacklustre, middle-aged Morticia Addams.
Singer Janelle Monae arrived alongside Mya, in a monochromatic Jean Paul Gaultier outfit and Christian Louboutin lace-up shoes. She was claimed to be supporting artists from her label Wondaland at the event.
The 29 year old singer looked stunning in muted neutrals and a pink slinky Stella McCartney number. She represented the Brits at the Grammys along with Adele and Florence, and changed her outfit later to perform her hit single ‘Love Me Like You Do’ with Andra Day, that was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance.
Our favourite a cappella troupe Pentatonix sure cleans up real good! Kirstin Maldonado wowed in an asymmetrical Rubin Singer dress. She was still symmetrically stylish with the colour tones of the rest of the group, though!
